Hello Andrew,

If power control is DC-201 then code for QHY9 camera should work on QHY8L for temperature control and readout.  Take a look at Giampiero's code in this source.  (Note: this code could be an old version)

If you send Giampiero email with your driver, he will add it to QHYimager which can do the debayer.  And, he can share with you his debayer which already exists.

I've hacked the protocol for temperature control.
Unfortunately qhy9 source code for temperature control does not corresponds to that USB-sniffer under EZCAP really shows...
Besides it, in order to actually save the data I have to send it twice with small delay. It looks like a hardware (or firmware) bug.

So... after all troubles the temperature control for QHY8L works well.

That one page was one of my sources when I wrote the command line capture for QHY9 and my prototype.
Others where the many excerpt from EZcap that you kindly published.

Nevertheless it took some time to find the correct image size parameter that keep the camera "in sync".
I was trying to take a shortcut for this one camera.

I did not write any command line tool for QHY8L. All code for this camera is in the corresponding module of my CCD program.
It will be reased soon.
You will be notified on it.

1. I would be glad to add support of modified webcams, but I've non-modified SPC900NC and no one have askes this feature.
2. Unfortunately I've no experience in the creation of packages... and as far as I understand It should be created two versions for 32 and 64 bits Linux distributives.

PS. If you have woking source code for modified webcams, please let me know

1) believe me there are moments when even with a 70/500 and a 0.5 reducer it's impossible to have a suitable guidestar @1/4s exp time.
This is usually completely cured once you can have 1-1.5s exp time for guiding.
Also the 50' fov of the above configuration can really help put faint objects in  the fov of the main camera if one can take a say 10-20s exposure in time to time.
Unfortunately I have no code to share about this, but if you need documentation on how to perform a modification and how it works I can help.

2) Once you grasp the basics it can even save you time as all the magic is done by the package manager with little configuration that you may set up.

If an application works on both 32 and 64 bit it can be simply marked "Architecture: all".

Too bad the .deb package is not good for all distributions: red hat and derivative use another (.rpm).
There indeed is a translation package (called alien) from .deb to .rpm but it appears that it must be handled with some care.
