Oh, cool. Maybe create a product page for the IMG series cameras and link from there? I was just poking around and didn't expect a user manual in this forum. Just got the camera yesterday.

Hi,

Thanks for posting this,  but there are a couple of terms that I don't really understand.

What is the EMC ring?  Is this the cylinder on the power cable that I guess is to reduce radio frequency interference?

What does OSC stand for?  Is it On Screen Display?  What does it do and why?

I don't understand the setion on Blooming - can anyone explain what this means?

Thanks in advance, Ian

You're right about the position of the EMC ring. EMC stands for electromagnetic control.

OSC stands for one-shot-colour, normally refers to cameras which produces colour images at once without the need of using external colour filters.

For blooming, you can check out this image. Simply speaking, blooming happens when the pixel (think of it as a photon collecting well) fills up and the "excessive" photons collected leak to the surrounding pixels.

Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.

Robin.

Thanks for the resply.

My bad, though: I meant OSD rather than OSC, in the context of favorite -> show OSD.  Is that on screen display and does that basically mean that a centre crosshairs is shown?  I can think of more useful reticules for astro work, but I guess it is useful to identify the centre of the frame...

Oh yes, it means on-screen display. The centre crosshair is great for alignment.  ;)
