Hi, I just compiled qastrocam-g2 on debian (sid, amd64) and after I start it up i get: ~$ qastrocam-g2 <init> : Avifile RELEASE-0.7.48-100130-08:40-../src/configure <init> : Available CPU flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe syscall nx rdtscp lm constant_tsc arch_perfmon pebs bts rep_good xtopo <init> : 2672.98 MHz Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz processor detected ioctl (VIDIOCGCAP): Invalid argument ioctl (VIDIOCGWIN): Invalid argument ioctl (VIDIOCGPICT): Invalid argument could not find a supported palette.
Does anyone have an idea what this means?

Hello,
Have you had luck with your AMD64 compile, yet?
If you have not, you should download the precompiled 64 bit binary. A link for it is posted earlier in this thread.
Best wishes, Dan

No, the reason I compiled it in the first place is because I had the same problems with the binary. My guess was that there was some library conflict and a recompile usually fixes that. So I didn't have probelms compiling, but I have no idea where to start fixing this...
Thanks anyway, Gerrit Jan.

Hello Gerrit, This is the initialization message here on my system which does function. <init> : Avifile RELEASE-0.7.47-080115-14:47-4.2.3 <init> : Available CPU flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 syscall nx mmxext fxsr_opt lm 3dnowext 3dnow up rep_good pni lahf_lm <init> : 2000.00 MHz AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ detected Unfortunately, I am using an old, single core, AMD 64 and you are using an Intel multi core processor. And, I'm certainly not an expert on machine level instruction sets, but, I am guessing the three complaining messages are trying to say the source code contains instructions which are not used by your particular processor. Might I suggest, you search the specific errors and try some coding suggestions for curing them. I think the problem is specific to your Intel processor. i.e. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/898474/v4l-problem-with-vidiocgcap-ioctl-callIt is a shot in the dark, but, it is a starting point. Good luck, Dan

Hello Gerrit,
One other suggestion. The Qastrocam QHY5 driver does not automatically recognize the presence of a QHY5 camera. Instead, the program defaults to looking for a webcam at the /dev/video0. Do you have a webcam which you can connect to the computer?
If that causes the program to open, then click immediately on the settings tab. Once opened, manually change the video device, telescope control, and long exposure device to: qhy5

Thanks Dan, that did the trick! All that was neede was to remove .qastrocam.conf. qastrocam then started with 'Settings panel only' , and I could fill in qhy5 as the video device. After a restart things are working great! I could probably just have edited the conf file also.... Now I need to get guiding working

Hello Gerrit,
Very good, glad to be of some help.
A favor please, if you get your guiding working, please post the equipment used and settings. I'm having a bit of a time here with mine, and, can not tell if the equipment or software is the problem.
I'm trying to use it on a Celestron 11GPS and things do not seem to respond on the Qastrocam telescope keypad, yet, it obviously is doing something on my images.
