Vertical banding appearing in Master Bias and Dark Frames - QHY9C

Hi

I am getting some vertical banding when I combine my darks and bias frames. They are most notice in the bias frames. I have attached screen shots. I am using Maxim DL v5.
Does anyone know what the cause of these might be?
I took 10 darks and 10 bias frames. Then used Maxim to combine these into masters. If the screen stretch is set to low/med/high you can clearly see the banding. Is this meant to happen or is something a bit wrong?

Any suggestions?

Hello,

          Is this in high speed or low speed. If high speed it is normal.

You can also use the Image FineTone adjustment to correct it . It is in #3 adjustment bar.

Many thanks for your response. Yes, its in low speed. I dont use high speed.

I am getting the banding with darks/biases with the win32 drivers also. How can I set finetone using the Win32 drivers?

How do I go about using the fine tone adjustment - this is only available in ASCOM.
I can see that you set values from 0000 to ffff. This is a hell of a LOT of different combinations to try, what is the procedure? If I was to try each combination it would take me literally weeks.
What is the best method to adjust the fine tone?

Can you please explain what you mean when it "is in #3 adjustment bar"?

        There is 8 adjustment bar .  Each of the bar has 4 positions. The sequence of the bar is

#1  #2  #3  #4
#5  #6  #7  #8

in ascom


In ezcap it is



#1   #5
#2   #6
#3   #7
#4   #8



         

          It's better to use the lastest WINUSB64/32 for it.

Thank you. I have the latest Win32 drivers. I cant see how to set these in the Win32 drivers. I am using Nebulosity.

1. If I make changes to the Finetone are they saved in the camera, or do I need to set them each time I start the software and connect to the camera?

2. How do I set the finetone in Nebulosity - I cant seem to find it.

3. What do I do? Change #3, then take a few test exposures, then change it again, take some more exposures etc. Keep repeating till I find it better? Is this what I should do?

If I adjust the finetone settings in ASCOM driver - then I use win32 driver. Will finetone settings be saved in the camera. Do I need to set finetine each time I run camera?

I cannot set finetone using Win32 driver in Nebulosity. When will finetone be added to Win32 drivers?

Hello,

         I forgot mention another thing. The vertical line is also due to not select "No USB readout" to avoid USB tranfer during readout.

Maybe you can use the 64bit/32 drivers and use ASCOM with nebulosity?  It has all the function of this.

I am using NoUSB already - but still have the banding issue.

1. Will the next release of of the Win32/64 drivers support finetone?
2. Are the finetone settings saved in the camera. Or the next day I start software, I have to set the finetone again?

Hello,
     The winusb64/32 driver suport the finetone.So you can use ASCOM to do it. The ASCOM will sae the settings and you do not need set the finetone. EZCAP also save the settings.

I also have banding issues sometimes in Horizontal. Looks like the same as Vertical bands. Only in darks and flats. Very light banding.
If finetone #3 is for vertical banding.

What finetone number can I use for horizontal banding?

Hello,

       This vertical noise is mostly like the powersupply or the computer. It is under the noise floor level. You can try to use other powersupply etc to have a try.
