Very cool! Congrats on the new camera. I still like the Sony chips better than the Kodak ones but choice is good.

Hello,
We released QHY9C color version. It is using KAF8300CE. We will post technical test images on Monday. The QHY9C is expected be similar price of QHY8.
Best regards,
Anymore information on this (images, form factor, PRICE, availability)? I'm looking a getting a CCD and this 8300 chip seems to be popular the last few weeks in the latest cameras. Why I would I choose one camera of the others (SBIG, Orion, QHY, ect). Roy

Best regards,
There are now 3 (that I know of) cameras that use the KAF 8300C sensor. The QHY9C, Orion Parsec 8300C and SBIG ST-8300C. The Orion and SBIG specs have the sensor, pixel and image size the same (17.96x13.52 / 5.4x5.4 / 3326x2504), but QHY lists something different. (19.7x15.04 / 5.4x5.4 / 3358x2536) The QHY is also a lot lighter and smaller, and (according to QHY) $500 cheaper (which is good) .. but the specs have me a bit puzzled. Can anyone suggest why the specs might be different. Also, if they are all the same and perform relativly the same, why would I go for an SBIG vs Orion vs QHY (other than price) ? Roy

Hello, Sorry this is a little mistake about the sensor size. Because we are based a old PDF . The sensor active size is 17.96*13.54 .
For pixel size. There is three defines:
Total pixel : 3448*2574 (8.9mega pixel) Effective pixels: 3358*2536 (8.6mega pixel) Active Pixels : 3326*2504 (8.3mega pixel)
Our circuit read all pixel out (3448*2574) and plus some overscan area.
I have changed this mistake on the spec.
Best regards,

This is one image . Second is stretched.First is full range.
The image has been resize 50% and save into JPG.
The color balance is keep on original ,not do auto balance.

Best regards,
If the price for the QHY9C will be similar to the QHY8 (~1500 US), does that mean that perhaps the QHY9 MONO might also be reduced in price? I might be looking for a mono camera and since there was never a QHY8/QHY8Pro mono, the QHY9 is the next logical choice.. But its a lot more expensive then the others. Roy
