QHY8 with Narowband Ha-Sii-Oiii (NGC 3372)
« on: March 18, 2009, 11:28:51 PM »

Using filters from Baadar Ha7nm, Sii8nm, Oiii8.5nm, please note I'm very new to tri-color processing so any advise would be appreciated.

All images where cropped because of framing and processed using IP 3.75.
1) Processed using L=Ha R=Ha G=Oiii B=Oiii

2) Processed using L=Ha R=Sii G=Ha B=Oiii

3) Processed using L=Ha R=Ha G=Oiii B=Sii

4) Processed using L=Ha R=Oiii G=Ha B=Sii

I hope the above will give some idea to those thinking of using narrowband filters with QHY8.

Cheers
Eddie

Wow, stunning! What is the total exposure time, it's very interesting for a color sensor. Did you make dark frame and do you have a filter wheel for narrowband ? All blend are beatiful, congradulation ! I don't know wich camera I will choose between QHY9 and QHY8 for my 254/1200 Newtonian and astro-tech 80/560.

Thanks,

Ian, exposure time as follows:
Ha=4x20min
Sii=23x20min
Oiii=6x15min
Used Bias, Flats, and Dark_Flats
No filter wheel
Images captured using Nebulosity 2 and guided with PHD and QHY5
I'm thinking of getting QHY9 plus filter wheel because the QHY9 should be more sensitive to narrowband which mean more details, I believe the QHY9 filter wheel can also be used with the QHY8.
I have a WO FLT-110 f7 of which these images where taken with, I had to use an 80mm extender, I'm not sure how this will play out with your Newtonian, but you should be ok with the astro-tech maybe need an extender.

Thank you for your kind comments on the images.

Cheers
