QHY5 - firmware issues, semaphore timeout

QHY5 - firmware issues, semaphore timeout
« on: March 03, 2012, 12:20:56 pm »
My QHY5 needed to have its VID/PID reset and the drivers reinstalled to recognize the QHY5. I managed to do that part, but now when I connect to it in PHD or QGVideo and start an exposure, I repeatedly get "failed with error 121: The semaphore timeout has expired."

I only have a 32 bit vista and a 32 bit windows 7 computer.

VID/PID is:
USB\VID_6C0&PID_296C&REV_0000
USB\VID_16C0&PID_296C

Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

Hello,
Maybe you can change it to our default VID/PID?

Best regards,

Which file do I need to edit to change the VID/PID to your default?

I've gone through those steps but at step 8 when you run EzMr.exe, it says that there is no cypress usb device detected?

So what do you do when it says no cypress usb device detected when running the EzMr.exe?

Hello,
Is it XP?  This method can only run under XP.

And please confirm the vid/pid  and make sure the INF modification the same with it.

Best regards,
Qiu Hongyun

No unfortunately I only own a windows 7 and a vista computer. The VID/PID and .INF file match.

So basically you're saying there's nothing I can do because I don't own an old computer?

It will work under Vista 32.
I use Vista 32 and its fine.
Dont need XP, but make sure its 32 bit though.

It is a vista 32 bit computer, but when I run the EzMr.exe file to fix this issue, it says no cypress usb device is detected so I can't finish fixing the VID/PID.

If your having issues, it may just be easier to send it either to your local dealer (May chanrge you a small charge if out of warranty) let them fix it, or send it back to the factory.
It may take a week or two, but at least you wont be frustrated figuring why your computer isnt seeing the controller.

My dealer is over the border in Canada. For the cost of postage, I would consider selling it and moving to a better planetary imager and making that autoguide too.

If you remove the casing to the camera, you should be able to wrap the PCB in bubble wrap, and post it off for only a few bucks..
This way the weight and size is small enough to fit inside an envelope...

But ask your dealer if he can do it.

Else, try running the software on another PC, or try everything again with Dr. Qiu on Yahoo maybe ?..

Hello,

You can also request a remote assistant.  So we can use some remote software to access your computer to help you solve this problem.

Best regards,
Qiu Hongyun

When can you do a remote assistant? What do I need to do for you to access remotely?

Thanks,
Jeremy
